Prokon integration with Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis
Autodesk partner Prokon has announced the beta availability of a new link that facilitates the transfer of steel and concrete information to Prokon from Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis.
PROKON RobotLink
The PROKON RobotLink is a add-on for Autodesk® Robot™ Structural Analysis 2011 that facilitates the design of steel and concrete members in PROKON® Structural Analysis and Design. With the PROKON RobotLink installed, you can transfer steel and concrete member information to PROKON in a few easy steps. Member geometry and design forces are transferred to the relevant PROKON module, where you can perform the design checks and (in the case of concrete members) generate steel reinforcement bending schedules.
Additonal details can be found on the Prokon website at http://www.prokon.com/structural/robotlink

New German language Revit blog is up and running
New German language Revit blog is up and running
For fans of Revit in German speaking countries there is a new Revit blog that you might interested in viewing. The content of this blog will be in the German language only and is a testament to the growing number of Revit experts and fans world wide who want to share their deep knowledge with a wider Revit community.
Users can access this new blog at RevitDE
Here is how the authors of this blog describe their site:
About RevitDE:
RevitDE is the first blog about Revit Structure in german language. The general aim of this blog is to provide tips and tricks for Revit users in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH).
During our training courses we noticed a great reservation to English tutorials, so we think a blog in German will help many users to find a better way to Revit .
The authors Thomas Hehle, owner of the engineering consultants TH-CADKON, and Axel Gehring, CAD Applications Engineer at Hafner’s Büro, hope that this blog encourage the Revit Community in these countries.
How to control the unit representation in tag?
Sometimes, users would like to customize the tag representation such as units, rounding, and unit symbols as per the locale structural engineering custom, e.g. for the below tag,
There are 3 parameters need to be labeled – Depth, SpaceNum, Panel Point Load. And the type for them is defined respectively as:
Depth: Length
SpaceNum: Integer
Panel Point Load: Force
Users would like to report Depth in inches, and no unit symbol show up; use N for the SpaceNum units; use K for the panel point load units, and the precision for it should be one decimal, just like,
However, as we all know, unit settings in Revit will follow the ones that set in project environment rather than in family editor. This is defined by default in the unit setting and it is unchangeable, see below,
In this case, even if we set the units well in the tag family, when users use it in project, they have to change the units setting in project to match to the tag representation.
However, for the tag family, there is an option "Use project settings" for the parameter's unit format which can be used to decide whether project unit setting or family unit setting to be used. This could be defined as below,
Thank you

Explore the Updated Revit Structure Composite Floor Design Extension
Revit Structure 2011 users with valid subscription can take advantage of an updated Extension that assists with the analysis and design of composite floor systems. This newly updated Extension, which is now available on the Subscription Center, provides analysis and design capabilities for composite and non-composite floor layouts using the current AISC 360-05 design specification. The integration of this analysis and code checking capability inside Revit Structure enables structural engineers and designers the ability to perform analysis and make code check centric decisions earlier in the design process.

RISA-Revit 2011 Link Now Available!
RISA-Revit 2011 Link Now Available!
This is a repost of the announcement from our partners at RISA that the RISA - Revit 2011 Link is now available.
----------------------------------------------------
The all-new RISA-Revit 2011 Link is now available as a free download for both
RISAFloor and RISA-3D users. This two-way link is compatible with Revit Structure 2011 (both 32 and 64 bit versions) and allows you to transfer information more seamlessly than ever between Revit and RISAFloor or RISA-3D.
This latest version of the link not only transfers shared coordinate systems,
leaning columns, sloped beams, and enveloped gravity/lateral end reactions,
but also has been completely overhauled for more robust behavior and
significantly increased speed.
Whether you are new to the Link, or are already using the Revit Structure 2010 Link, download the latest version from our website below and try it out today! Visit www.risatech.com/revitstructure to download the new Link today!

New Videos show the power of the Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Spreadsheet Calculator
We've published a new video that demonstrates how the Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Spreadsheet Calculator tool allows users to link new or existing spreadsheets directly and dynamically to Robot Structural Analysis Professional models. Many aspects of the analysis model can be extracted to the spreadsheet including data about sections, member sizes and an array of analysis results - allowing users, for example, to “plug in” their own design code check spreadsheets to real time Robot results.
Because the video is fairly long we have split it into part 1 and part 2 which can be accessed on YouTube at the following locations:
