Software download will replace CDs and DVDs as the default method of delivering software upgrades
Hi all,
Starting this month, software download will replace CDs and DVDs as the default method of delivering software upgrades to most Autodesk® Subscription customers worldwide.
If a customer would prefer to receive their software upgrade via CD/DVD instead of via download, customers can set their delivery preferenceto “box” by signing in to Subscription Center and updating their profile prior to March 12, 2010. (Date does not apply to Media and Entertainment customers.) After March 12, 2010 customers in countries affected by this policy change can still request a CD/DVD by submitting a request in Subscription Center and Autodesk will ship a CD/DVD at no additional cost.
Software download gives Subscription customers immediate access to the latest Autodesk® software. It’s more convenient than installing upgrades from a CD or DVD. And, it’s a more sustainable choice.
Autodesk will continue to ship CDs/DVDs to Subscription customers in some countries as the default delivery method. However, these customers will also have the option to download their Autodesk software upgrades.
Questions
Additional information and a Customer FAQ can be found on the Subscription Software Download page.

How to control the fillet in Revit modeling
How to control the fillet in Revit modeling
You may encounter the situation for modeling fillet in Revit, when changing the controlled parameters' value, the fillet may be disabled. Here are several methods that will control the different types of fillets.
Case 1:
In this case, we need to rely on below several parameters to control the fillet. Shown as:
And below formulas also need to be added,
Length=Sqrt(2) * t
R= Length / (2 * cos(45°+Angle))
I.e. we should label both the radius and the chord length.
Case 2:
And below formulas should be added,
R2=R1+t
Length1= 2 * R1 * cos((90° + Angle) / 2)
Length2= 2 * R2 * cos((90° + Angle) / 2)
What kind of pile cap can be identified by Revit Extensions for reinforcement?
There is functionality in Revit Extensions that could add reinforcement to pile caps and piles, shown as below,
But you may find sometimes that the piles or pile caps can't be supported for reinforcement. Just like below image, from the geometry, category, structural material type settings, there is no any difference between them. But one can be identified by Revit Extensions, the other one yet cannot. What's the reason?
The reason for this is just because whether or not the nested piles are shared or not.
For the 2 pile cap families, the piles are created as nested family and then nested into the cap host. The only difference between them is:
So there is difference when adding reinforcement using Revit Extensions.

Excitech Revit Toolkit - Coordinate Scheduling tool
Excitech Revit Toolkit - Coordinate Scheduling tool
Excitech from UK has just released their Revit Toolkit in which contains a very useful Coordinate Scheduling tool.
Quote from Excitech Press Release:
“The first part of the Revit Toolkit is the Coordinate Scheduling tool which is FREE and available worldwide.
The FREE Excitech Revit Coordinate Scheduling tool is a powerful enhancement for Revit Architecture, Revit Structure and Revit MEP that will enable users to automatically acquire precise X, Y and Z coordinates from specific Revit objects. This allows users to more rapidly produce schedules of, for example, piling and services; as well as to publish coordinates for complex geometry across 3D space.
The Revit Coordination Scheduling tool is currently only available for the Revit 2010 platform and 32-bit operating systems, and is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP and Vista. A 64-bit version will follow shortly.”
For more information and support on the Excitech Revit Toolkit, go to www.excitech.com/toolkit
